Description
My husband and I have owned and restored over 1000 antique and vintage Singer sewing machines, and both of us have a special interest in treadle (foot-powered) models. There’s just something fascinating about providing your own power to make something with your machine. We have accumulated a small stock of old parts for these things and the parts aren’t doing anyone any good sitting in our workshop, so we have decided to send them on to where they’re needed. Many treadle frames have come to us over the years with missing or badly rusted “centers,” the internal pivots that both the drive wheel and the foot pedal ride on. Some hardware on a treadle frame can be improvised but these things have to be original or your treadle will not work properly. Each treadle frame needs three centers
:
two for the pedal and one for the drive wheel, and three are included in this set.
These centers measure about one-and-one-half inches in length and are 27/64th inches in diameter. We believe they will fit every treadle frame Singer manufactured from roughly 1880 until the 1940s, but please measure your frame to be sure.
They are in solid, original condition and have been cleaned. They are ready to go to work.
